Happy Halloween

Grandma Peak, Taylor and me...I always like to take Taylor to see my grandma when she is all dressed up.
Taylor wanted to be a cat this year. I made her a little skirt and attached a little tail. We found a cute little mask; however, I attached some little ears to a head band of hers, in the most likely event she decided not to wear the mask.
This was the first occasion Taylor had to wear her costume. At a play group Halloween party. The Friday before Halloween, we finally got around to carving our pumpkin. Taylor picked Pluto, again, for this year's pumpkin. I poked in the design and, thankfully, Ben did all the cleaning and cutting and carving of our pumpkin.
Taylor talked a big game prior to the actual event. She was all ready to stick her hand in and pull out some pumpkin. However, when it got down to it. She wanted no part of touching the "goo."
She would play with the tools and touch the inside of the pumpkin, but no goo.
This is the finished product...
I personally think it turned out fabulously...Good Job Ben! The day before Halloween, we trick-or-treated the downtown retail shops...with (maybe) several hundred other children...
Notice, we have moved away from the mask and into the ears. Taylor and I picked up Daniell and we walked downtown to many of the shops. It was pretty crowded, but fun to see all the cute costumes.
The resort plaza was open too, which was nice, because it did rain just a little...
There was even a fire truck with fireman handing out candy...
Our downtown is so cute! I love to do things like this...
Grandma and grandpa had window seats at the Beacon for dinner. Taylor knew they were there, so not too far into our little journey and she was done getting candy and ready to see grandma and grandpa...
My cousin Lorinda, Chris, Anissa and Makenna met up with us there. Taylor then wanted to continue getting treats with them, so back out into the crowd we went...
I do love the view from my deck, especially with the fall colors...
For her actual Halloween trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, Taylor let me draw a little pink nose and whiskers on her face...

Ben and I walked Taylor around our neighborhood. It was a wonderful evening. Not too cold. Taylor would walk up and ring the door bell, say "trick-or-treat" and "thank you" and sometimes, "happy Halloween."
I just think she is so adorable and wanted to take lots of pictures...

Once we returned home, she wanted to pour out all her candy and admire it...
I love fall with all it's colors and I love getting Taylor dressed up and being a little creative with the costumes. We had a fun Halloween!

Taylor Turns 4...October 2nd, 2010

Taylor wanted to wear a pretty dress on her birthday, and decided on her yellow one. This is a little kitty she bought with some birthday money from her grandma Judy. Taylor currently loves cats. Unfortunately, her daddy does not and sometimes it's very sad. She has actually cried, a sad, heartbroken cry, because she loves cats so much and would really love to have one. She received a package in the mail from my mom one day and she said, "maybe it's a kitten." Thankfully, Ricky and Daniell have two cats who allow Taylor to play with them. They never scratch her. They are wonderful entertainment for her!

Ben and I both have allergies to cats, so we will never have one. She knows we will not get one, so she will say, "When I get my own house I will get a cat." One day she said to me, "When we move out, then I'm going to get a cat." I said, "We? I get to move with you?" She said, "Yes." (Like, of course mom.) I said, "What about daddy?" She said, "He can come too." I said, "Where are we moving too?" She said, "To grandma and grandpa's house." Very interesting how she imagines this to all play out.
On the morning of her birthday, we went out to breakfast. Taylor got a call from my aunt Susie along the way, who sang her happy birthday. After breakfast, we had to go to Costco where the birthday girl convinced her daddy to buy her this "birthday" dog. Taylor named him "Lama-do." It sounds a little like Marmaduke, but it's not...it's Lama-do. Taylor has a very active imagination and sometimes her "friends" come with us or meet up with us at random places. Some of her friends like..."Sausage" the butterfly..."Pupcake" the puppy..."Custard" the cat. Taylor likes to take a few "friends" to sleep with her at night too. If she falls asleep in the living room and later wakes up in bed without the friends, she will go find them, gather them up and bring them all to bed. It's usually no more than three, but if she wakes up and wants to crawl in bed with me in the early morning hours...she will bring them all with her. She sets them by the head board between Ben and me and snuggles up in the middle.
We had a small birthday party at our house. I made enchiladas, salsa, beans, rice...and Ben made sure we had all the right snacks...like pickles and olives, cheese and meat...
We let Taylor open presents throughout the day...
Taylor posing in her new kitty slippers. She will pretty much pose on command now. I'll say, "Give me a pose Taylor," and she puts her hands on her hips and will bend one of her knees...
Matt and Holly, and Ricky and Daniell joined us for dinner. Grandma was catering so she was running a little late...

After opening presents she played. Interesting fact about Lama-do...he can hold up to 140 lbs.
Grandma and Taylor went for a little walk after dinner and presents. Taylor loves to go for walks with her grandma! She took one of her new friends...Rossco...a kitty...
There has been a rainbow cake we have seen at Costco for months. Taylor has been telling us for months she would really like a rainbow cake for her birthday. I really didn't want a cake that big, so I took her over to Safeway. Once she saw the Care Bears, it was an easy switch. She recently watched a Care Bears movie so when she saw these little movable figurines, and the rainbow on the cake, she was sold...
Taylor loves the Little Pony's. My mom sent her a card with the Little Pony's on it. Although I read the card to her, and said, "Love Grandma Judy and Papa Ron," Taylor was convinced that this card came from the Little Pony's in Ponyville. Her expression was so sweet!
She loved the card!

We had snacks and Ben taught everyone how to play Pinochle. Everyone except his wife, who was having a hard time following along.
I ran back and forth between Taylor and everyone else...
It was a fun and relaxing evening with our little party to celebrate Taylor's 4th birthday!

Hunting and Camping...September 2010

Since Ben can't wear his wedding ring at work...it's a safety issue...he usually doesn't wear it. However, he always wears it during hunting season. Apparently, it brings him good luck. When I look at this picture, with all our friends and 4-wheelers, during one of our rides, the first thing I see is the ring on Ben's finger...funny.
Hunting season is serious business, so it's nice that we all got to go out on a ride, and the guys ended up missing their evening hunt.
I think we found a few berries...and Taylor found some flowers...

The views...I just love them...
Riding back to camp at sunset...
Getting firewood...
I love to watch Ben cut down a tree...

Filling our truck with firewood...
Then, the guys leave camp to go hunting...and the girls are left to decide...what to do, what to do?
So, we decided to go on a little "girls" ride...
Well, it was going to be just a little girls ride, until we ran into the guys who were heading back to camp to get the 4-wheelers to get the elk they shot. We decided we would ride the 4-wheelers and meet them back at their elk camp. Daniell is building us a fire...
It was a great little adventure...
So, while we waited for them to do their elk thing...we took pictures...
And, chatted...and waited...
Then I took Taylor out to see the elk. She knows her daddy makes sausage with elk. I think she thought when he cut it open, there was just sausage inside. As we were walking away, she said, "I wanted to see the sausage."
Of course, there are a few more steps to making elk sausage than that.
On our last weekend up at camp, Taylor got to go elk calling with the guys...
And, the girls went on our last "girls" ride of the season...
Taylor loves camp...she found a caterpillar...
She really wanted to walk in the water in her rain boots. I did go in with her, in our boots. The water was very cold...
Taking a little rest on the 4-wheeler while we stop for lunch...
Our last 4-wheeler ride of the season...
Taylor found a lady bug...
On our last morning at camp, I made Taylor some eggs, which she likes with ketchup...
Then I cleaned up the trailer and Taylor and I headed home. Ben stayed up for another week for elk season. I let Taylor stand up in the sun roof. She thought this was great fun...
It was on our camp road...this is not something we do often...
And, I was driving very, very slow...
And that was the end of our camping season. We miss it already!
