Mobius Kids, February 4, 2012

I had some returns to make downtown, and I thought maybe Taylor and I would do lunch and maybe walk around a bit. As we took the escalator down to the main level, Taylor saw another set of stairs and wanted to see where they led. We then spent a couple hours at Mobius Kids.
There is a lot to do there, from climbing up and sliding down slides, riding on plasma cars (in traffic), and a lot more.
This little wave pool allows the kiddos to direct the flow of water and then they can send a little boat or duck down through their current.
There is a great, right out of Swiss Family Robinson, straw hut to play in...
And good clean mud...
They have aprons and everything, so I was totally okay with this.
This was a fun board. Air blows up through some holes on the table and you can balance balls in the flow.
You can see it blowing Taylor's hair...
You can see the look on her face. This is the last picture and she was done. Not to far away from her was a small screaming girl. Taylor didn't want to just move to another area, but completely out of there. She didn't like that the little girl was throwing such a terrible tantrum. She had pretty much explored all she wanted to at this point anyway. It was a fun afternoon.

Clay Creations, January 19, 2012

Grandma came over to stay and play with Taylor one day while I had a lovely time at the dentist. I was so impressed with their clay creations!
I'm just not this creative, so I had to capture the art. Very impressive ladies!

Ice Skating, January 25, 2012

I remember my first time ice skating. My Uncle Steve made a small rink in his backyard. Once it was ready, I just stepped out on it and skated. I loved it! I actually thought it was easier than roller skating. Of course, I was 10 and was a very proficient roller skater, before I ever stepped onto the ice.
This was Taylor's very first time on the ice, she's five, and not a proficient roller skater, so this was a little scarier for her. I finally convinced her to get out there with me. We pretty much did this every time. I skated backwards and held her hands. The ice felt much harder and slicker than I remember, so I was okay with our slow pace. Anissa went out fearlessly as she is on roller skates, but Taylor was okay with our own routine of I skate backwards and hold her hands as we make our way around. We did have a brief break while the Zamboni came out, so we took some pictures with the clock tower behind us.
I did try to get her to hold the wall and feel a little more confident on her own, momentarily, but she didn't like that too much.
We went back to what we were doing and went around the rink about five times. It did take us awhile, were were going pretty slow.
Makenna wasn't too big on this either, so these two girls watched and played a bit. And, this is when Makenna tipped over and Taylor tried to catch her.
I stayed out with Makenna and Taylor so Lorinda and Melissa could do some actual skating.
Then we walked over for dinner to Red Robin, because they always love that.We would have taken them over to the carousel too, but it was closed for some repairs. See it there on the other side of the river, behind us.
Crossing the bridge to River Park Square.
After dinner, we got balloons at Nordstroms and walked around a bit, then had a treat. The little girls had cookies.
The big girls had our own table too, and I had a black and white coffee or mocha, but it was very tasty.
We walked back through the park (briskly) to our cars. This is the top of the canopy, all lit up.
It was a wonderful girls day out. We may try this ice skating stuff again...perhaps, next year.

A Nice GOOD Snow, January 20, 2012

Finally, we had a nice good snow!! Fresh enough to really enjoy, and eat, if that's what you like to do. While I was out shoveling the driveway, Taylor shoveled a little, then played a lot.
I got down my first sled for Taylor to play with. A saucer from back in 1973 (maybe, I'm not sure if that's the actual year). As I was piling up a nice mound from our driveway, Taylor was trying to slide down it.
This was worked okay for awhile, but it was a little hill.
However, she was having a lot of fun, and well bundled.
She is actually praying and thanking God for all our snow.
She is such a sweet heart!!
Once I finished with all the shoveling I told her we would hike over to the golf course and see about some better sledding.
It's an amazing view! One of the reasons we bought our first home here. When we first moved in, I would go cross country skiing on the golf course.
There are some pretty big hills, but I didn't want to send Taylor down one of those.
We found a couple of nice hills for her to sled down and we did that repeatedly...
Until it started getting dark. We walked home in the dark and I was really wishing I had a little rope tied to that sled so I could pull her home, because she was pretty tired. It was so much fun!! We were so thankful for the snow.
The little saucer would turn a bit (sometimes) as she was heading down the hill, which she didn't like too much, but she still had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, the snow didn't last. We did get a new sled, not shaped like a saucer, which will be lots of fun the next time we get enough snow to really play in, we look forward to that, next Winter.

Happy New Year 2012

We spent New Year's Eve at the Telford's in St Maries with all our friends from camp. We had a little gift exchange for the adults and the kids.
It was so great to see everyone. We miss them so much during the "off" season.
Although we didn't go on a "girls" ride we did get a photo.
Taylor enjoying some snacks.
Taylor and I were at Silver Rapids the day before and she has little red marks on each side of her nose from her little finger nails for plugging it to go under water.
Taylor enjoying some sparkling apple cider...
Happy New Year 2012...I hope no one gets laid off, and we are all happy, healthy and thankful for all our blessings.
